The Forensic Institute was founded in 1999 as an international network of experts providing professional forensic services as well as a significant academic resource.
The Institute's aim is the provision of the highest quality scientific and medical services and training relevant to civil or criminal justice. We are also committed to the development and improvement of professional standards in every aspect of the use of science and medicine in the law.
The Institute has a group of experts and organisations that provide the four main business areas of:
- casework
- consultancy
- training and education
- research and development
The Institute's Executive Board includes one of Scotland's leading Queens Counsels and also the Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Centre. The Fellows of the College of The Institute are recognised as among the leaders in forensic research and practice. Prof. Allan Jamieson, Director of the Forensic Institute, is one of the leading forensic science experts in the UK.
The Forensic Institute's extensive expertise is drawn from across the world and includes public and private forensic science laboratories, individuals, and academic establishments. Quite simply, the Institute uses the world's leading experts to provide one of the most comprehensive and high quality sources of forensic scientific and managerial expertise anywhere.
