Learning From Experience - Developments in forensic investigation from case histories

The Summer 2004 meeting of the Forensic Science Society "Learning From Experience - Developments in forensic investigation from case histories" has as a number of themes: unusual or unique cases and new applications of science, or experience, to criminal investigation. Papers are sought from those with direct casework experience either as a forensic science practitioner or as someone who has used forensic science in an investigative capacity.

The Society is particularly interested in attracting papers from those more established in their career especially in relation to unusual and "one-off" experiences, and those who are just beginning their career.

The Forensic Science Society - Your Professional Future
Autumn Conference and AGM Wyboston, Bedfordshire
This will be a high profile meeting that will launch the Forensic Science Society as a professional body. Speakers at the plenary session will include senior members of the scientific, legal, and policing professions. The main theme of the plenary session will be the new role of the Society as a learned and professional body. In particular what this means for individual members and the profession as a whole. Invited guests will include representatives from forensic science laboratories throughout Europe, the legal profession and police forces in the UK. Academic, professional and regulatory bodies with an interest in forensic science will also be represented. There will be an extensive scientific programme with a wide range of specialist workshops including DNA, drugs, imaging and shoemarks.
It is also anticipated that a number of other forensic societies and organisations will join us in shared workshops.
This will be the largest and most significant meeting ever run by the Society, in keeping with the launch of a new professional body.
